THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It was a hectic day in the city on Sunday for Union Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor, attending more than 11 programmes, which included two weddings and a dinner with Archbishop Soosai Pakiam.
Dr. Tharoor kicked off the day with a meeting with Law Minister M. Vijayakumar. The next stop was the Attukal temple where he reviewed the preparations for Pongala. A Congress mandalam camp and a youth congress rally later, it was time for meeting the people. “recd 200+ petitions..,” he tweeted on the event. The afternoon was set apart for the launch of Dateline, a book about 16 Malayali journalists, the launch of an apartment complex project, a Lions Club charity event and an award function.
The highlight of the day was a dinner with the Archbishop. “Thirumeni wanted to share his concerns about the fishermen community, particularly in relation to two Bills: the coastal zone regulation Bill and the marine fisheries Bill. I heard those concerns with great care and would voice them in Parliament,” Dr. Tharoor said.
